DIY care from head to toe

DIY-Pflege von Kopf bis Fuß

Especially in stressful times, it's really good to treat yourself to an evening of care at home. Creating a cozy, relaxed atmosphere with candles, flowers and fragrances and then pampering yourself from top to toe is a real treat. The best way to do this is with homemade care treatments that contain only natural, safe ingredients. From hair treatments to foot scrubs, we have put together an all-round do-it-yourself beauty program for you - have a wonderful evening!

Hair treatment for split ends: "Banana-almond treatment"

This hair treatment is particularly helpful for hair that is prone to split ends, for example when styling with a curling iron or hairdryer. To make the treatment, simply mash a ripe banana with a fork and mix in 2 to 3 drops of almond oil. Apply the mixture to the scalp and massage into the ends, leave on briefly and then rinse thoroughly.

Hair treatment for brittle hair: "Avocado and olive oil treatment"

If your hair feels brittle and dry, it needs an extra dose of moisture. An avocado and olive oil hair mask is particularly good for this:
Mash a ripe avocado with a fork, mix with two tablespoons of jojoba or olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice. Massage into the lengths of the hair, avoiding the roots and scalp. Leave on for up to 30 minutes and then wash out with lukewarm water and shampoo.

Facial steam bath

A facial steam bath is the perfect preparation for a face mask. It opens the pores, warms and circulates the skin so that the active ingredients of the mask can be absorbed well. Cleanse your face before the steam bath, fill a bowl with hot water and any additives, place a towel over your head to intensify the heat. Duration: 5 to 10 minutes as required.

Steam additives for every skin type:
Sensitive skin: camomile flowers, marigold, honey
Blemished skin: tea tree oil, rosemary, thyme, sage
Tired skin: lemon balm, daisies, rose oil

Face mask for dry skin: avocado-honey mask

Avocados help the skin to regenerate and remain supple with moisturizing ingredients such as vitamin E and omega-9 and omega-6 fatty acids. Honey provides additional moisture. Simply mash a ripe avocado with a fork and mix with 1 teaspoon of liquid honey. Apply to the face and leave on for 10 minutes.

Face mask for sensitive and combination skin

A mask made from bananas, honey and almonds is ideal here: bananas have a moisturizing effect, almonds cleanse the pores, honey soothes the skin and helps against redness. Mash two bananas with a fork, mix with 2 tbsp honey and 2 tbsp ground almonds. Apply to the face and leave on for 15 minutes.

Body scrub

Regular exfoliation helps to prevent impurities and remove dead skin cells, leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth and the massage effect leaving it beautifully rosy and fresh. For do-it-yourself scrubs, only small amounts should be mixed and used immediately. Healthy, normal skin can be exfoliated once a week, while oily, blemish-prone skin can be exfoliated twice a week. Dry and sensitive skin is better exfoliated only once a month.

Exfoliation for normal skin:

Mix 2 tbsp brown sugar, 4 tbsp grapefruit juice and 2 tbsp warmed coconut oil together and massage into pre-cleansed, damp skin in circular motions, then rinse thoroughly.

Exfoliator for sensitive skin:

Mix together 3 tbsp almond bran, 4 tbsp natural yogurt, 1 tsp apricot kernel oil and massage into pre-cleansed, damp skin using circular movements, then rinse off thoroughly.

Foot care

A foot bath lasting around ten minutes beforehand relaxes and is the ideal preparation for further foot care. Nourishing rapeseed oil and mint, sage or rosemary can be added to the water. Then treat the feet with a scrub made from olive oil and coarse sea salt (ratio 2:1) to make them beautifully soft. Finally, massage a mashed avocado into the feet, leave to work in and rinse off.
