Organic and plant-based out of conviction:

That is GSE organic supplements.

The story of our natural food supplements began with a supply gap. When naturopath Michael Gracher was introduced to grapefruit seed extract at a training course, he was immediately impressed. He would have liked to recommend the versatile preparation to his patients, but there were no suppliers in Germany. Without further ado, he and his wife Jennifer founded their own company in 1994 to meet the growing demand in the health food industry - initially by importing it from the USA. A company name for the one-product distribution was quickly found: GSE (derived from "Grapefruit Seed Extract").

Organic pioneers with passion and vision

It quickly became clear what a success story awaited GSE on the German market. When the original manual bottling and labeling in the home kitchen was no longer practicable, the first employees were hired and an external bottling plant specifically for grapefruit seed extract went into operation.
In 2003, the time had come to rethink not only quantity, but above all quality from the ground up. With the world's first production of grapefruit seed extract in certified organic quality the founders set themselves a difficult task. When searching for raw materials, they presented an uncompromising quality strategy that still determines GSE's actions today: Only if an ingredient meets all the strict criteria for organic certification does it make it into the planned end product. The introduction of CitroPlus® was the first proof that even the seemingly impossible is possible.

Next stop: 100% Phyto Vitamins

The great success of CitroPlus® prompted Michael Gracher to finally realize a long-held dream in 2013: the production of 100% phyto vitamins. organic vitamin and mineral supplements from 100% plant sources. From phytotherapy, he knew about the high bioavailability of nutrients from plants by binding them to universally available secondary accompanying substances, so-called bioflavonoids. The human organism is familiar with this natural simultaneity from its daily diet and therefore utilizes the micronutrients particularly effectively.

Could it be possible to extract and standardize vitamins & co. in such a gentle way that they have a real Alternative to synthetic food supplements represent?

It could - even if the road to the GSE "phyto-vitamins" was rocky. The more exotic a plant raw material is, the more difficult it is to obtain it in the required organic quality. In addition, large quantities of a plant are often required to obtain the planned micronutrient content ... and, of course, it must be harvested at exactly the right degree of ripeness and processed quickly.

Organic - a logical decision

GSE relies on organic quality raw materials for good reason:

  • "Organic" delivers highest plant quality and safetybecause it does not use synthetic pesticides and herbicides or genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
  • Organic cultivation pollutes soil and water and does not sparingly with non-renewable energies with non-renewable energies.
  • Organically grown plants often have a higher nutrient and vital substance content than conventionally grown plants.
  • Organic products contain only a few and exclusively harmless additives are permitted, which is ensured by strict safety controls.
  • Organic cultivation builds up the CO2-storing humus layer through purely organic fertilization instead of destroying it, thus making a valuable contribution to the environment. climate protection.
  • "Organic" protects the biodiversityby tolerating neither spray poisons nor monocultures.

And you know what? The effort is worth it across the board. For every raw material, even the African Griffonia bean, there have been absolutely trustworthy supply partners around the globe. Because they believe in organic just like we do, they are happy to undergo the strict European certification process and are therefore part of the GSE success story.

The products are processed using ingredients extracted using an organic-compliant process in a state-of-the-art production facility at the GSE site in Saarbrücken. Independent accredited laboratories check every batch for ingredients, residues and microbiological purity. This is the only way we can maximum safety guarantee maximum safety. Less is out of the question for us.

Well-deserved European market leadership

Today, a 30-strong workforce is responsible for the smooth production and distribution of almost 80 herbal food supplements - and the trend is rising in every respect. The fact that some employees have been with us for more than 10, and in some cases even 20 years, makes us proud and spurs us on: A loyal team is the best compliment! Together we are so European market leader for certified organic herbal food supplements have become.

To mark the company's 30th anniversary, the former managing director Karim Chaouch acquired the Saarbrücken-based food supplement company from Bionexx Holding by means of a management buy-out. Former Managing Director Anja Binger, a biologist, continues to be responsible for the Development & Quality division, while former Managing Director André Schön is in charge of the brand image. An eventful time lies behind GSE. After 5 years as a portfolio company in a private equity holding, the ups and downs that the market has gone through, the focus is now back on the core competencies. Of course, the new start will also bring challenges, but the high quality of the productsthe innovative strength of the company and the resulting leading position in the marketwill certainly keep GSE on the road to success.
