Summer games for children
Out onto the grass, into the fun, enjoying the sunshine and the warmth - in summer, your children can really let off steam outside. We have ideas for games that are guaranteed to keep them entertained outdoors. So, come out and play!
King of the monkeys
Preparation: 150 - 200 cm long woolen threads and safety pins for each player
This is how it works: Attach a 150 - 200 cm length of woolen thread to the back of each child's pants or skirt with a safety pin. While romping around, the other players must try to step on the other's tail so that it breaks off. Whoever still has a woolly monkey tail at the end is "King of the Monkeys".
Target throwing with water bombs
Preparation: Fill water balloons, prepare buckets, prepare winning prize
This is how it works: All players line up in a row and get their water balloons. The bucket is at the front and each player in turn throws once at the target. The player who hits the bucket the most times wins a prize.
The crazy obstacle course
Preparation: Provide objects for jumping over, crawling through and balancing, for example hula hoops, rope, sticks, stools and stopwatch (smartphone app)
This is how it works: A course is set up which the children can then run through. Small play stations for in between, such as reciting a tongue twister or singing a song, doing a somersault or jumping jack, provide additional variety.
Deposit bottle bowling
Preparation: Fill nine PET deposit bottles one third full with water, prepare a ball
This is how it works:Line up the nine bottles like bowling. Each player can now aim the ball at the bottles three times and try to knock over as many bottles as possible. The player who hits the most bottles wins.
Free Elsa!
Preparation: Place a small towel at one end of the playing area, alternatively mark a rectangle with flour
This is how it works: In this game, the snow monster must be overcome and ice queen Elsa must be freed from the ice palace. One child plays Elsa, one plays the Snow Monster and all the others are Anna and Kristoff. The child chosen to play Elsa stands on the towel or in the marked area and is not allowed to leave it. This is the ice palace. All the Annas and Kristoffs stand at the other end of the playing area, with the snow monster standing between them and Elsa. On the command "Free Elsa!", all the Annas and Kristoffs must try to get to Elsa without being ticked by the snow monster. Anyone who is ticked turns to ice and must remain motionless in one place. The aim is to get to Elsa and tickle her to free her. The child who succeeds is Elsa in the next round.
Gold washing
Preparation: Gild white aquarium gravel with gold paint from a spray can, fill a paddling pool with water. Now fill a large bag of coarse building sand into the pool and mix in the gold nuggets. Provide a sand sieve, a small shovel and an egg for each child.
This is how it works: On a signal, the children start sifting through the sand and sorting the gold nuggets from the sifter into their container. Whoever has found the most gold nuggets is the gold digger king!
Hint: The game is not suitable for children under 4 years of age as there is a risk of swallowing the small parts.
